The insurance industry has strived to steer people towards their choice of solicitor (oh and they usually receive several hundreds of pounds for their efforts) as opposed to the injured persons choice of solicitor, who could be hundreds of miles away.

So, all that we can do is fight back and adopt tactics that might incentivise potential local clients to visit a local firm of solicitors

Porters Solicitors have seen and heard the campaign by APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers) and have arranged a private meeting with their local MP to lobby against full scale reform. We will be lobbying hard to help stop these grossly unfair reforms.

There is a real danger that this country is going backwards very quickly in terms of access to justice both in the civil and criminal sectors. Most in the profession will know what savage cuts have been made to legal aid budgets and now the government seem hellbent on sticking their nose in to private law.

Is this really a democracy or are the government turning this country in to a controlled state where freedoms and access to justice are restricted to those who have the means to pay?

The recent education reforms may provide a clear answer to that question.

There was activity from people both walking by and being curious to internet enquiries etc.

Monday also saw the launch of the new radio advertising campaign with Signal Radio, being the main radio station for the local area with the hopefully catchy, 20 60 20 jingle so that people can remember that all being well.

With the radio advertisement we thought long and hard about the way forward.   Numerous samples were brought forward with some being traditional and more what you’d expect from a law firm.   However, we took the view that there are too many ads that are downbeat and run of the mill and we wanted a more friendly tune that would put a smile on peoples faces and shows that we’re just like anyone else.   We’re not stuffy; we’re modern, vibrant and approachable.  

There tends to be, in our opinion at least, an approach to put moody, soft music in personal injury ads.     Focus was also put on the Walk In Centre nature of the office.   Why should people have to make appointments for days and weeks in advance?  They may want help now.

Our window displays and internal fittings are pretty much complete to give a professional look inside.

We’re a bit different to a traditional firm of solicitors.  We like to be ultra modern in the way we think.  We don’t do appointments, unless the client wants an appointment specifically.  We’re like any other business;  A customer doesn’t walk in to a supermarket and get told that they can buy their products next Wednesday at 2pm, so why should we?   

So, how about this, we decided that we’d try to interact with our web visitors as effectively as we could.    Thanks to IQinc, we’ve incorporated a live chat facility.  It’s not for legal advice but a way that potential claimants can interact with us and ask basic questions without having to speak to us on the phone if they don’t want to.

Then, if that’s not enough, we realised that some people just want some information, like how much their personal injury claim could be worth.   So we did a Claim Calculator which is an estimate of what a claim for “pain suffering and loss of amenity could be worth”.  It’s an estimator.  

What’s more, the potential claimant can ask for a free text message so they can have their estimated claim value on their mobile phone;  all in the click of a button and in real time.

The point is, whether a website visitor just wants some useful information, wants to get in touch very informally and/or wants to put forward their claim details, it’s there on the home page.   User-friendly to the core.
